Don’t burn bridges
How you quit your current job can have an effect on your future career prospects. So how should you quit your job?
The best way to quit is “by the book.” This means you give your boss advanced notice, and work hard until the end of your employment. Generally speaking, unless your mental or physical health is in jeopardy, quitting your job impulsively, or burning bridges, is not a good idea.
Many people believe that they will never see their boss again, or that they will not have to have contact; it’s worth remembering that when you apply for a new job, the recruiter can contact your former boss, with or without your permission. Many companies speak with at least the HR Department about your last job.
Quitting your job without notice, or doing something else to burn bridges with your past employer is not a good idea; always remember the word - “Reference.” How much notice you give your manager, and how much you tell him about why you are leaving depends on your manager and also company policy. Always adhere to company policies and rules.
Make your choice carefully.
The way you choose to leave your job is very important - it can affect your job hunt for several years to come.
