Fire Installation & Commissioning Engineer
Package – £40,000 per annum + Overtime and Expenses
Location – Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London
We are seeking an experienced Fire Installation & Commissioning Engineer to install, test, commission and hand over fire alarm, detection, emergency lighting and associated fire-protection systems across commercial, industrial and residential properties.
Key Responsibilities
• Install conventional and addressable fire alarm, detection, emergency lighting and associated fire-protection systems.
• Commission, test and fault-find systems in accordance with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams.
• Complete commissioning certificates, test records, service reports and handover documentation.
• Configure cause-and-effect programming where required.
• Diagnose and resolve on-site technical issues efficiently.
• Commission integrated fire and life-safety systems.
• Liaise with clients, site managers, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Provide customers with guidance on the operation of installed systems.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and compliance.
About You
• Proven experience installing and commissioning fire alarm and associated fire-protection systems.
• Experience working with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
• Good working knowledge of BS 5839, BS 5266 and applicable fire-safety regulations.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with a range of fire alarm panels and equipment manufacturers.
• Good understanding of electrical systems and site-based installation practices.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willing to travel nationwide as required.
Desirable
• Skilled Worker CSCS or ECS card.
• FIA Level 3 training.
• FIA Emergency Lighting training.
• Manufacturer-specific training.
• IPAF or PASMA certification.
• Experience working on construction and refurbishment projects.
• Experience commissioning integrated fire and life-safety systems.
