The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that there are a record 32.6 million people in employment, whilst the jobless rate remains at its lowest since early 1975, at 4%.
The employment rate, which is defined as the proportion of people aged between 16 and 64 who are working, was estimated to be 75.8% - the joint highest figure since comparable records began in 1971.
The jobless rate remains at 4% - its lowest since early 1975. The figures also showed that weekly earnings went up by 3.4% to £494.50 – the highest level since March 2011. Unemployment for women has dropped to below 4% - the first time ever.
