More and more businesses are introducing “Recharge Rooms” – rooms which allow employees to chill out during the working day – and finding they have a positive effect on staff morale. So, what are the most popular recharge rooms?
Game rooms
Game rooms may sound a strange thing to introduce to the office, but it is found that video game lovers feel more valued at work when they can relax with the odd video game. Nearly everyone has a smartphone today – when employees are commuting many play games on their mobile phone (as well as check their social media accounts); playing games allows employees to “tune out” of their busy schedule, for a few minutes.
Electronic Free Rooms
Employees leave their electronic devices at the door; no longer are they sent text messages, emails that need responding to and phone calls. electronic free rooms stop employees from their mobile phone screens every few minutes. Soundcloud Berlin have even introduced a fireplace in their room. Staff in electronic free rooms talk to one another – rather than send each other emails.
Nap rooms
Google has pioneered the “Nap Room” by introducing high tech sleeping pods for employees who have worked long hours. Google acknowledged that sleep deprived staff didn’t perform at their best. Google is also renowned for its relaxed company culture.
Gym/Yoga Rooms
Larger businesses such as Nike offer their staff a yoga room as well as a full gym.
So, does your business need a “Recharge Room?” What are the benefits?
Employees need regular breaks. Some modern offices are encouraging employees to work 25 minutes, then take a five-minute break, then begin the cycle again. This allows employees to stay at the top of their game. Recharge rooms allow employees to take a five-minute break, and chat with other colleagues, which is good for team bonding and staff morale. Having a work “Recharge Room” also shows that you care about the well-being of your staff; they also show potential employees that you are an innovative employer keeping up with the latest trends.
