What are your thoughts about taking pets to work?
Many larger companies are now encouraging staff to bring their pets to work. But is it a good idea?
Research has shown that taking pets to work can boost staff morale, improve absenteeism, and promote a healthy work-life balance. It has also been suggested that spending too much time too close to a project or assignment can inhibit work productivity, and often causes unnecessary stress, whilst pets at work allow you to pause and step away from an assignment and have a little “me” time.
Apparently, pets encourage laughter, helps reduce blood pressure and encourages staff engagement.
If your employer allows pets at work there are a few things to consider; pets should be clean, free from smells and be well-groomed. Pets should be introduced to the environment slowly, especially when other pets are in the environment. Respecting other staff and the work environment should also be observed.
