Tips to good customer service…

Good customer service means helping customers efficiently, in a friendly manner. If you get customer service right, you build good, long-term relationships with clients. Get customer service wrong, and the consequences to your business can be dramatic; the loss of a valued customer, the loss of revenue and the loss of profits, as well as the damage to your brand and reputation.

So how do you ensure excellent customer service? Here are seven top tips:

  • Go the extra mile – make sure nothing is too much trouble for your clients. Exceed expectations.
  • Remember little personal things about your client such as their child’s name; think of a conversation that you have had in the past, and refer to it. Nothing pleases a client more than someone showing genuine interest.
  • Your actions and your words should always agree with each other. Don’t say one thing, then do another.
  • Keep clients informed at all times. No one likes a nasty, unexpected surprise!
  • Be honest.
  • Treat people the same way that you like to be treated.
  • Always strive to do your best. Remember, every interaction should be consistently high. Remember the phrase – never settle for second best.
